The DH has been home for approximately 1 hour and claims he's heard enough of the wheezing, coughing and sneezing so he's sleeping on the couch. WOOT-WOOT! I get the bed all to myself! Now I'm off to fix some hot tea, lather the Vicks on my forehead, and throw a Halls in mouth so I can get some of this gift knitting on the move. What's your weapon of choice when you're sick?

Pass the Puffs...
Thanks to my family I am now battling the respiratory virus. I escaped it for quite awhile but it hit with a venegance today. I don't really have time for the coughing, congestion, wheezing and sneezing as the holidays are fast approaching and there's much gift making to be finished. Forget that Life has also been tossing a few other challenges our way. Anyway, I'm well stocked with Halls throat lozenges. Puffs with Vicks is hard to find in this town and they're my favorite weapon of choice.

I'm Ba-a-a-ck
Thanks to everyone for their kind comments on the previous post. Personal issues continue but we will persevere.
Onto life now............
It snowed here yesterday. The storm was to be south of us. Uh......think the weatherman missed this one.
We awakened this morning to a temperature of 3 degrees Fahrenheit. bbrrrr.......
Mr. Bettis romped and played in the snow and finally came in from the cold. He actually crawled under this blanket on his loveseat. Silly dog.
I have been knitting but have very few pictures. I finished this hat over a month ago but I'm afraid it will be too small by the time it reaches it's destination. The recepient has a lot of trouble receiving packages and schedule conflicts (busy, illness etc) have not permitted a meet-up.
There's also a handknit sweater but it will be too small also. *sigh* I'm sure there will be someone in the future who will need a handknit sweater and hat for their little one.
The hubby came down with a fever and sore throat last weekend. I have never understood how this man never said a word when he fractured his back or had the table saw war . Yet you'd think he was the only one in the world with a sore throat. (eyeroll)
By Wednesday he was no longer complaining. When he no longer complains, I know there's trouble brewing. (he says the same thing about me but.....pppfffttt whatever)
The fever raged and I began to see the warning signs of his old buddy, pneumonia. He went kicking and screaming to the dr and sure enough he had pneumonia in both lungs, ear infections and sinusitis. He has been receiving injections and put on some hefty antibiotics and other medications. Thank goodness he's improving and will be returning to work soon. ...........did I say that? LOL

Quiet Thoughts
Forgive the photographer and her lack of camera skills:).
It's morning and I wanted you to see that I did a little yard work/planting this weekend. Do you see Phoebe and Molly waiting at the door?
We hung the flag earlier than normal this year. I think we all need to be grateful for our freedom and human rights. So often we as Americans take our freedom for granted. I salute our military who sacrifice so much so that we may have and enjoy that freedom.
The DD attended a tea luncheon this weekend to benefit her flute teacher's missionary work in Ethiopia this summer. She and the DD played duets for the luncheon and it was a very nice Saturday afternoon.
I finally finished this project. I love this pattern.
The DD's flute teacher will be presented with this at the recital later in the month.
The colors are perfect for her and I know she will appreciate the shawl.
This shawl is a comfort shawl for my future DIL's mother. I named it The Angels' Hug.
Our #2 Son is getting married May 2, 2009. i will be certain to post pictures after the wedding next weekend.
In January I mentioned there was a family illness that I would disclose later. Our future DIL's father was diagnosed with brain cancer.
This wedding will be beautiful but bittersweet.
On a slightly lighter note I drum carded some pink BFL with cashmere. Reminds me of cotton candy. I love the color and I can't wait to spin it into some beautiful yarn.

Prayers and Squares
Prayers and squares are needed.
A dear friend Michelle has a friend whose son, Luke has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain stem tumor. I cannot imagine what the family has to endure and I hope I never experience anything even close to what they are experiencing.
Michelle is collecting 8×8 squares knitted in boy colors to make Luke a special blanket. She must have the squares by August 12th. All personal knitting in this house has been set aside to knit prayer squares for little Luke.
Follow this link to read about Luke, his family and the specs about hand knitted squares.

Over To The Other Side
To keep you posted: Our July 4th holiday was a B-U-S-T! The fireworks were cancelled and we were unable to attend the wedding.
Once again medical issues hindered plans.
I have gone over to the other side.......the crochet side. I think this makes me a h**ker. hee-hee
It's hot and it's muggy. So cotton thread is much nicer to work than wool.
I'm on a doily roll over here.
This is a blue doily for a friend of mine. Her birthday is in the fall and blue is her
favorite color.

I love roses and I enjoyed making this one. It's a gift but I haven't decided whose gift.
This is another rose doily and although I would like to keep it for myself, my dear daughter reminded me that Christmas is only 6 months away. So a gift it will be.
I have another one in progress only the center rose is yellow.
I haven't blocked them yet as I have no idea where I'm going to store them once they're blocked.

Now before you think I have completely left the knitting scene, I will reassure you that I have not left. I am just on hiatus during the hot muggy days.
I finished these socks and put them on my sock blockers from Wendy. Check out her blog, she has added music and it's very nice.
Thanks again Wendy!
