It's a Knitting Jungle

I've wanted an excuse to make this adorable little elephant for quite some time. The pattern is easy and the result is too cute for words. I used two balls of Peaches and Creme yarn in the color Fiesta.
Meet Miss Ellie. She's ready for some hugs and kisses.








This is the Lacy Baktus. Quite the rage in blogland and Ravelry. Normally I choose the pattern then the yarn but this time the yarn chose the pattern.

I spun this from a small amount of roving that was purchased at the MD Sheep & Wool Festival a year or so ago. It's been sitting very prettily in a basket begging to be knit.

I called it Winter Birds because it reminds me of the birds hiding out in the trees during the winter storm.

I can't rave enough about this pattern. Love, love love it from start to finish.
Looks like everyone is getting a Baktus for next Christmas :).

Belated Christmas Post

I've been a bad blogger and failed to put pictures of the tree and a few gifts the elves finally finished. LOL Here I thought those darn elves were on strike.
I made a pair of socks for my MIL. Red Heart Heart & Sole.
I like people with small feet:)













I saw a hat similar to this one on Ravelry and I thought it was perfect for the college freshman DD. It was! It is! She loved it.
One skein of Noro Silk Garden. I started this from the top down so I had more control of the height of the hat.

This is a cowl made from my handspun merino/silk blend. Buttons are the most difficult thing to find around here. I managed to settle for the these from our very tiny Joann Fabric store.

Two hats for two very sweet little girls. I hope they like them.

Our Christmas Tree this year. It is bright. It is VERY bright. It's a large tree with 3300 lights. We're enjoying it as much as possible. We will be putting away the decorations very soon.

Scrubbin' Bubbles & other stuff

Finished stuff. I hand spun the variegated yarn in this cowl. The brown is Lamb's Pride wool from the stash room. It was supposed to be a scarf but I was bored with it. So a cowl, it is. The stick is just a bamboo stick that I had lying around. I need to make a really nice stick closure.
I wore this last weekend and had quite a few compliments.

This yarn of Paintbox by Classic Elite has been stashed for quite awhile. Since I'm de-stashing these frugal days I finally found a use for this lonely skein.
A hat pattern that I found on a knitting site.
This is quick and easy and only took an afternoon to knit. I used up all but 2 yards of the 109 yard skein.
The daughter who was the intended recipient loves it. She wasn't available for the picture when I finished it so I put it on and snapped the pic.
I don't like to have my picture taken so I cut off as many parts of self as I can.



This is also from the stash room and it will grow up to be something special for the daughter. These are the chosen colors of wool.
Notice the balls of yarn. Long B.efore B.all W.inder 4 yrs ago. What does that tell you about the stash?
You know what they say about a fine wine aging? Well, I hold that same line for yarn.......LOL









The scrubbies are multiplying. I just found they are the best when it comes to scrubbing the tub and shower walls. Loving this scrubby.
Chan and I made a deal to spend 15 minutes - 1/2 hour de-cluttering in the house. So far, so good. Of course it's only been 2 days since that commitment.

P.S. Make note to self. It is not wise to close oneself in the shower with a bottle of bathroom cleaner and a scrubby.
I'm still hacking up a lung from that process. That'll teach me to clean! LOL

He Did It Again

Every time I get out the camera to capture pictures guess who is there. Mr. Bettis.
He gets excited and jumps at the camera. He tries to get in every single picture.
This is the daughter at Christmas and just when I was ready to snap the camera, here comes Mr. Bettis. She was trying to get him to back up but trying to push a 145 dog out of the way is not an easy task.










Everytime I yell, "don't allow Mr. Bettis on the furniture", this is what I find.
Mr. Bettis's owner listens to rules almost as much as Mr. Bettis obeys the rules.
Mr. B thinks he's the same size as 8 pound Gypsy. I'm not kidding when I make that statement. He will try anything Gypsy does and then he gets stuck in a situation he can't get out of.





And almost everytime I leave the house I come home to something destroyed.
I printed off this pattern, laid it on the table and left the house for 20 minutes.
Mr. Bettis can reach the table without effort. I forgot he could do that and this is the result.
He is on his own with me today. The girls went with Vet Girl to be groomed. Keep your dpns crossed that Miss Gypsy gets a good report card this time. I just know it's a set-up when she gets an "F". LOL










I resort to knitting when he destroys stuff (okay, I know it sounds like a knitting excuse but any excuse will do:). I made a Thermis. It is a pattern that is available as a download on a knitting site.
I was a bit sceptical about wearing a cowl. But I absolutely love this thing. It frames my face very nicely if I must say so myself and it keeps my neck warm.
The DD requested one so I have cast on for another one.

I hear Mr. Bettis wrestling with a cat. I'm off to see what he's doing now.



p.s. I'm just waiting to hear from Mr. Bettis's "attorney". lol
