12 Knitting Days of Christmas

I am not a writer or a poet but I had fun writing this little ditty. Please sing the following to the tune of 12 Days Of Christmas. Enjoy!

The 12 Days of Knitting

On the first day of knitting I gathered all my yarn, grabbed knitting needles and I very quickly cast on.

On the second of knitting I gathered all my yarn, Two warm afghans and One lacey shawl

On the third day of knitting I gathered all my yarn, 3 wool hats, two warm afghans and One lacey shawl

On the fourth day of knitting I gathered all my yarn, 4 soft sweaters, 3 wool hats, two warm afghans and One lacey shawl.

On the fifth day of knitting I gathered all my yarn , a bot-tle of wine, 4 soft sweaters, 3 wool hats, two warm afghans and One lacey shawl

On the 6th day of knitting I gathered all my yarn, 6 pair of gloves, a bot-tle of wine, 4 soft sweaters, 3 wool hats, two warm afghans and One lacey shawl

On the 7th day of knitting I gathered all my yarn, 7 fair isle mitts, 6 pair of gloves, a bot-tle of wine, 4 soft sweaters, 3 wool hats, two blankets and One lacey shawl

On the 8th day of knitting I gathered all my yarn, 8 fuzzy scarves, 7 fair isle mitts, 6 pair of gloves, a bot-tle of wine, 4 soft sweaters, 3 wool hats, two warm afghans and one lacey shawl

On the 9th day of knitting I gathered all my yarn, 9 little snowmen, 8 fuzzy scarves, 7 fair ilse mitts, 6 pairs of gloves , a bot-tle of wine, 4 soft sweaters, 3 wool hats, 2 warm afghans and one lacey shawl

On the 10th (hiccup) day of knitting I gathered all my yarn, 10 knitted toys, 9 little snowmen, 8 fuzzy scarves, 7 fair isle mitts, 6 pairs of gloves, a bot-tle of wine, 4 soft sweaters, 3 wool hats, 2 warm afghans and one lacey shawl

ON the 11th day (hiccup) of knitting I gathered all my yarn, 11 cotton cloths (hiccup), 10 knitted toys, 9 little snowmen, 8 fuzzy scarves, 7 fair isle mitts, 6 pair of gloves, a bot-tle (hiccup) of wine, 4 soft sweaters, 3 wool hats, 2 afghans and one lacey shawl.

On the 12th day (hiccup) of knitting the dog ate my yarn (hiccup), the pattern is lost, I don’t care, it’s too late in the year, needles disappeared, snowmen have melted (hiccup) frogged the fuzzy scarves, scrapped those mitts, unfinished gloves, a bot-tle of wine (hiccup), sweaters with no sleeves, huge wool hats, raveled afghans (hiccup) and forget that lace shawl!

P.S. And this explains why my Christmas gift knitting is not finished.........LOL

Churn, Baby, Churn

Do any of you remember the song, Burn, Baby, Burn disco inferno?
Well I've discovered a new word,
churn which means to stir (milk or cream) in order to make butter.
This new word fits perfectly in the disco inferno song.

Since I don't churn butter (although in these economic times, it's a thought)I decided to churn (or stir) a cake. Chan sent this to me a while back. The Pampered Chef rice cooker is wonderful to bake cakes.
This pic shows the frosting in the bottom of the cooker

The German Chocolate cake mix is then put on top and baked fin the microwave for appoximately 10 minutes.

Finished cake. It is moist and delicious. If you don't have one of these cookers by all means try to purchase one. They're wonderful!
More churning is coming soon!

In the meantime try to get that song out of your head..........LOL

Man or Toddler

Okay, it's been a week since the "match" between my husband and his table saw. In case you are unaware of this match please read the previous post.

Ed is recuperating. We had another ER run on Sunday the day after the accident for major pain meds. The saw did what a saw does..........cut. I will say no more other than he is now in an immobile splint and so far the graft/repair is doing what it is supposed to do. Thank you for all of your prayers and support.

Now on to life with the husband home from work. I left him for a few hours today to attend my local "knit-in" for a little R&R. When I came home he was lying on the couch with the hand (what is left of the hand) on several pillows. Seems he was downstairs assessing the "ring" where the match occured in order to contemplate his next "job". He wants to tear out a wall in the 3rd bedroom for a new closet. What is he talking about? Here is his hand (what is remaining) in an immobile splint and he wants to do construction stuff........again? Anyway, he decided to try to lift a rather heavy box and the hand that is supposed to be immobile, bent causing an undo amount of pain.

I can no longer leave him home alone. I have a 5'11", 190 lb man..........or is that an overgrown toddler who cannot be left alone. I have to fasten his pants, button his shirts, tie his shoes etc. He spilled a glass of sticky ginger ale all over the laminate flooring and he now has an adult size "sippy cup." I'm thinking yards of knitted I-cord would be helpful keeping in a chair.

I will post pics of the knitting that I have managed to get done while "man-sitting".

p.s. You know the song, "I fought the law and the law won" Well my humorous self has been singing, "Ed fought the saw and the saw won." I told you we had to keep our humor.
