The Wedding

9-10-2011 The day our eldest daughter (Vetgirl) became a Mrs. Forgive the mish-mash of pictures, blogger is not cooperative when it comes to posting pictures in an orderly fashion.

The guests were very pleased with the atmosphere and the food which was delicious. Herb chicken or pasta, salad, potatoes and steamed vegetables were the menu choices.

Upon my request the bride and her ladies-in-waiting gave me a good shot of the gown backs although they look like they're in a hold-up ;)

My nephew who was also the best man baked the cake to suit the couple consisting of dog paw prints and a techo thing in the middle for the groom. It suited them well, very tasty and he received rave reviews.

Flowers and a picture were in honor of the groom's brother who is serving in the United States Navy. He's on the look-out for a video of the ceremony since he was unable to attend.

The bride with one of her favorite cousins. They were born 3 months apart and went to school together from K-12. They also played in the band drum pit for 4 yrs and have many fun memories.

We're finally caught up on our rest. I've reflected for days and some of the ceremony/reception is a blur. We had a wonderful time and we're very happy for her and our new son-in-law who will now be referred as Tech-Guy on this blog ;).

They are on their honeymoon and will be returning soon. I've heard from Vetgirl and she talked non-stop. We are anxious for them to return so we can hear more about their trip and we can't wait for the pictures.

Today is the day...

Please forgive the poor picture of this blogger but I had to post it anyway.

The daughter in the middle is getting married today. We are very happy and excited for her.

This particular post is focused (for now) on those gorgeous shawls we are sporting.

G and Chan encouraged me to knit a CopyKate shawl for the bride-to-be and started a kal. Chan made the pink shawl for Chemgirl (on the left) and G made the green shawl for me.

They arrived in plenty of time and on what was a rather gloomy and despairing day. You girls made our day and we absolutely love the time, effort, love and care that was painstakingly in these beauties (yes, we have admired the zillion ruffle stitches ;). These are like a hug from dear friends. Thank you again for making our day a happy one with many more to come.

The groom is on the left carrying the tuxedo. At this point it was not raining. The ceremony was to be outside.











Inside the 1744 Tavern. I was impressed how they arranged the bar around the dated fireplace.












On the right is the gazebo. This is where the ceremony was to be. It started raining 45 minutes prior to the wedding. The bride and her mother made the call to move it inside.

Thanks to all for your prayers. The Bride's father had a good day and told my husband several times that he was very happy.

As you can see it cleared of rain immediately following the ceremony.












At one point while cutting the cake, Son yelled, "where's my mother?" Apparently he was having trouble. LOL



















Happily Ever After!

Here we go.........again

This post is picture-less. I'm supposed to be packing to leave for Son #2's wedding which is on Saturday. We're leaving tomorrow morning. I would've been packed and ready but it seems there was a snafu. I have asked husband for 3 weeks to try on his suit. He refused and fussed that it was fine. I was not convinced and I reminded him that he had not worn the suit for a few years. He continued to insist the suit would fit. Well he tried it on this evening and guess what? The pants did not fit. So we had to make a last minute run to find dress pants. I'm curious. Do you think it is the evening bowl of ice cream that caused the pants to shrink? LOL

You should've seen the shirt he thought he was going to wear (eye-roll here). No, it wasn't the old flannel but it was close. Husband is a casual kind of guy.
We found the pants on sale and a new dress shirt that was on clearance in the first store. Not that we have a lot of store choices. So we were fortunate.

The knitting bags are packed. Yes, I said bags. One never knows which project to work on for the car ride and the down time during the visit.

Quiet Thoughts

Forgive the photographer and her lack of camera skills:).
It's morning and I wanted you to see that I did a little yard work/planting this weekend. Do you see Phoebe and Molly waiting at the door?

We hung the flag earlier than normal this year. I think we all need to be grateful for our freedom and human rights. So often we as Americans take our freedom for granted. I salute our military who sacrifice so much so that we may have and enjoy that freedom.

The DD attended a tea luncheon this weekend to benefit her flute teacher's missionary work in Ethiopia this summer. She and the DD played duets for the luncheon and it was a very nice Saturday afternoon.







I finally finished this project. I love this pattern.
The DD's flute teacher will be presented with this at the recital later in the month.
The colors are perfect for her and I know she will appreciate the shawl.







This shawl is a comfort shawl for my future DIL's mother. I named it The Angels' Hug.
Our #2 Son is getting married May 2, 2009. i will be certain to post pictures after the wedding next weekend.
In January I mentioned there was a family illness that I would disclose later. Our future DIL's father was diagnosed with brain cancer.
This wedding will be beautiful but bittersweet.








On a slightly lighter note I drum carded some pink BFL with cashmere. Reminds me of cotton candy. I love the color and I can't wait to spin it into some beautiful yarn.

Over To The Other Side

To keep you posted: Our July 4th holiday was a B-U-S-T! The fireworks were cancelled and we were unable to attend the wedding.
Once again medical issues hindered plans.

I have gone over to the other side.......the crochet side. I think this makes me a h**ker. hee-hee
It's hot and it's muggy. So cotton thread is much nicer to work than wool.
I'm on a doily roll over here.

This is a blue doily for a friend of mine. Her birthday is in the fall and blue is her favorite color.














I love roses and I enjoyed making this one. It's a gift but I haven't decided whose gift.








This is another rose doily and although I would like to keep it for myself, my dear daughter reminded me that Christmas is only 6 months away. So a gift it will be.



I have another one in progress only the center rose is yellow.





I haven't blocked them yet as I have no idea where I'm going to store them once they're blocked.




Now before you think I have completely left the knitting scene, I will reassure you that I have not left. I am just on hiatus during the hot muggy days.

I finished these socks and put them on my sock blockers from Wendy. Check out her blog, she has added music and it's very nice.
